Super Mondays

Tyneside LUG News - Mon, 06/10/2008 - 12:25
Tyneside LUG is a part of Super Mondays: Super Mondays is a strong and vibrant community of IT enthusiasts based in The North East of England. We meet up once a month for a range of IT user group meetings and some unstructured discussions. There is no membership, no fees and no rules….the community is basically undefined! If you want to attend then just come along. The monthly events take place on the last Monday of every month (except December) and run between 6:00pm and 8:00pm at the Beehive Research facility in Newcastle University. We'll be there. Super Mondays gives us an additional opportunity for a LUG meeting, in an environment where there are also other user groups with a bias to freedom. The next one's on Monday 27th October, and a bunch of (currently numbering 7) us will be giving quick talks about the advantages various programming languages.

Server re-installation

Tyneside LUG News - Sun, 13/07/2008 - 17:37
The operating system on this server has been reinstalled. We're now running Ubuntu Server 8.04 LTS. Most things are up and running, but this OS is very different from Trustix Secure Linux and there are still some issues. The main issue right now is that the mailing lists are down. users can still browse the archives, but the lists aren't receiving emails. UPDATE: It's working now.

Hope to have a good turnout.

Introducing myself

Herefordshire LUG News - Wed, 09/07/2008 - 11:13

Hello Herefordshire!

I'm with you as you were recommended as being an active and welcoming group, ideal for a newbie like myself who has encountred probs right at the start of my Linux experience. I'm up on the Scottish border in Dumfries, so just a tad off your usual patch!

I liked what I was hearing about Zenwalk, and as I have a swanky laptop from Zoostorm with 4 gig memory and 250 gig hard drive, I thought Zen would be ideal as I was intending to use it for photography, editing film, and maybe doing some animation apart from the usual stuff.
